strange smell from delvan mud wash
« on: 26 July 2011, 08:14:59 PM »
I bought a new jar of GW Delvan Mud wash.  It works fine but it smells really strong.

Has there been some change in recipe?  Has anyone noticed this, too?

I find the washes to smell like crap -literally and Devlan Mud in particular. And they always have. But they are really damn good so pretty much worth it - no need to draw full lungs of the vile smell while painting though.

Yup, smells rotten, tastes rotten, works like a treat. Smell intensity varies from jar to jar, dunno why either. Don't worry about it, just don't drink it all at once.

Smells like burning plastic to me.

Blaukraut smells like stinky feet.  ;o)

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a change in recipe or something as my old washes did not smell at all.

Agreed, smells like something you might find in a nappie

I have noticed, I also noticed my new pot of snakebite has quite a strong alcohol smell to it, which I find far more disturbing.

Think there has been a change in recipe?  Or old/new bottles?

Just wondering.

I bought the washes when they were first released and even they had that smell. Never had a single pot that didn't eventually turn my stomach inside-out!

I have only been using mine to paint minis.
Is there a strange wash-sniffing culture that exists underground?
Can you get treatment for this?
