Looking for weird war colour suggestions
« on: 28 July 2011, 11:11:45 PM »
At the moment I have the Dust Tactics starter box with the US and German walkers and troops, plus a rather sizeable AT-43 Red Blok army. All of this is in the process of being augmented with a couple of Tamiya 1:48 scale tanks - a Hetzer and a KV-2. I got these two partly because they were available and partly because I rather like the totally non-standard looks of both of them - no turret at all and way too much turret!

Now, off to the issue at hand: Extra late war colours for the US, the Germans and the Russians - what do you suggest? I prefer fairly simple colour schemes though. The US is pretty straightforward I guess, and also the Russians. But what about the Germans? The troops from Dust Tactics are fighting in Antarctica, but I don't want to give them winter colours.

The Hetzer is almost finished and looks great next to Luther and Ludwig, and the KV-2 looks quite at home with the Red Blok walkers!

Please please paint the germans pink! I really want an army of pink ww2 germans. Its to poke fun at the awful horrible regime and because I think it would look really effective on the table. It would also be unique!

Plus, historically, the germans did use pink n their uniforms. The piping on the uniforms for tank crews was a bright shocking pink.

Well, I can sympathize with your suggestion on an ideological level, but I may have been aiming for something slightly more realistic... :-)

I did my SotTR germans in the very late war and infamous "Octopus" camo....
to match thier King Tigers...

Makes them period ish... and also imagines what would have happened, camo wise, if the war had gone on...

Looks ace if you get the correct Vallejo colours!

Towards the end of the 9real0 war, some German armour was Red Oxide primed, then some sand camo was applied.
The red oxide looks cool, try Vallejo Cavalry brown.
It would certainly stand out on an Antarctic base! ;)

That one looks definitely interesting! Do you have any pictures of your troops?

Yes, I knew about the pink desert trucks, but I still insist on doing something somewhat more... mainstream... is perhaps the right word! :-)
