Sum Amera fings wot I dun...

This isn't one of those posts where great projects are displayed for us all to go oooh and aaaah over. I simply wanted to pimp Amera's plastic terrain a bit. =) Ordered a large box of stuff a few months ago, haven't gotten around to do anything with it but the other day I flocked a small hill and finished off two other pieces. Two 28mm Citadel fellows for scale.



The small hill is £2,75, the ruined wall is £0,65 (!!!) and the little slope is part of a set of three pieces selling for a measly £3,75. The pieces are light but sturdy and take paint well. They lie flat on the table and do their job - I think. Haven't actually played any games with them yet. =) Yes, vacuformed plastic is a bit soft on the details - but for that price it's either this or scratch building. My time comes at a premium these days, so this is JUST the product for me. Little cost, hardly any time involved in finishing the pieces and good enough results for the gaming table. Get some too, you boobs!

Thanks for posting these. I picked up a few Amera pieces myself to work on, but I haven't done anything with them yet. I agree, they seem to be an excellent bargain for the cost.

Given the cost of these the results that you got are fantastic.

I did a hill a couple of years ago and was amazed by how well it stood up to day to day battles.

Now the craters have me interested for another little project.

Cheers Andrew! I'm quite chuffed with them, just need to re-visit the edges of the small hill with some more flock. And I REALLY should look for a craft paint which better matches the tone of my playing surface as that green is... very green when left exposed. =D

Damn straight, Mike! It's not a matter of the items being completely unique or fantastic in and of them selves, but rather a combination of a very low price and a feeling of general quality. I was afraid they'd feel as flimsy as vacuum formed packaging (like the trays you get meat or vegetables in the shops), with weak points at ridges, but they are sturdy all over and should survive being accidently sat on or have metal minis dropped on them from some height. All factors you need to take in consideration when gaming with my cousin. =D

Yes, I could carve a hill out of styrofoam (and I actually did that too) but can I really be bothered when there's a ready carved and shaped hill for £2,75, just waiting for paint and flock? =) My hourly rate is about £90 when on a job. It would take me more than an hour to gather materials, glue and shape a hill the size of the small hill above.

I've got a fair bit of their stuff and will buy more when I need it. I fill my terrain bits out with insulating foam to give them some heft. Wargamers like heft.
