New Heroclix Sculpts
« on: July 30, 2011, 07:49:06 AM »
Is is just me or has the quality of sculpts and paint work on the latest Captain America set jumped up across the board?

I'm very pleased.

yeah, the inconsistency of scale has always been a sticking point for me.  They seem a little better at that as well.

Baron Zemo is tiny.

I wouldn't say they are getting better.  I've been collecting them since the begining.  Some of the older sets are much better.  I would say they are getting better than we have come to expect over the last several years.

I've heard the miniatures were getting loads better! I've only got two and that's the same model in two different paint schemes. A Wolverine figure to be exact. Got givben to me in a comic book store not far from me. I think it was as the range was crashing out. Good to see it back up and running. My favourite miniature game I think. Just because it covers my comic book love.

Less of me chattering anyway. I'm going to have to go and pick up a starter set now!

Cheers,
Steve

Overall, by way of sculpt quality and certainly paint jobs, the game pieces have improved greatly over early sets.

You guys want to post some examples of these improvements you're talking about? The latest sets look like the same old thing to my untutored eye... :?

This is a set list for the new Captain America set.

Overall, the quality has varied for heroclix. The general rule of thumb ( and there are some glaring exceptions ) is that the rarer the figure, the better the sculpt.

If I had to offer a comparison, I'd use the new MODOK figure in the latest set.

Now, here is the original MODOK from 2004.

Both are excellent, but the modern take is almost three times as big.

I suppose it depends which characters you're after, what you want to do with them and if you're willing to do a little repaint like at this chaps site to achieve their full potential.

I love MODOK, and the repaint truly does him justice. Superb. :)
