Devout Trooper Praying
« on: 09 August 2011, 08:49:01 PM »
lovely little figure with a few quirks...

a bit annoyingly, the tip of the musket is below the level of the integral base, so couldn't level him out, so he gets a bit of undulating terrain to pray on... even more fiddly was trying to paint past the hands and the visor... god knows how they cast him with the face bars (whatever they're called) up... was surprised to find it was a single piece cast with that fiddly bit...

a difference in jacket meant my Ian Ogilvy plans went out the window and I had to google some real reference pics... buff jackets seemed the norm and everything else seemed suited to good old puritan colours... which means he fits quite nicely with his mate...

tried something a bit different with the base this time, tried a mix of static grass and tufts... I quite like it, kind of moorish...

he's a freebie from The Assault Group (with orders)

I find the muted colors of this period a bit of a turn off as far as painting goes...but pictures like this will change my mind!  excellent work.

Yes, nice job (and I agree about the mix of grass on the base).
