Looking for a 10mm flock of birds.

Anybody know of anything out there that could pass as flock of normal sized birds for a Warmaster stand?

You might need to look around a bit - but sand dollars might do the trick.

Try to find smaller ones.  Break them open and harvest the bones.

I think there are 5 per sand dollar - and they scale with the size of the sand dollar itself.  As a result, when you use smaller sand dollars...you get smaller birds.

Now that is an outstanding idea.

At the size I want to try and do the sand dollar mandibles are too delicate to work with. The wing sections fall apart trying to get them out of the sand dollar.

I've got an idea that I might be able to cut them out of folded paper with an ex acto.

Wasn't too sure how delicate they would be once you got smaller.  I just remember cracking them open as a kid.

Cutting them from paper should work well enough (at 10 mm scale...unless they are monstrous birds, they will be pretty small).  However, it would likely try my patience.  Might check one of the hobby stores to see if they have an appropriately shaped hole punch or something like that.  I know that I have seen a punch that does the edges of paper and leaves a lace look to it that had some bird shapes in it (was for a First Communion invitation).

I was thinking about it more at lunch and I'm going to take a different tack. I'm going to see if I can press a passing relief image of a flock into plasticine clay and then pour in a little resin.

If your gaming group is OK with a Pun.  Base some of these for a flock of "birds".

GW did a flock of bats and some Eagles for their Warmaster spin-off, Battle of the Five Armies, take a look.

Sorry for the delay but I just came across these N gauge flying seagulls while surfing:-

[They are right at the bottom of the page].

BTW the seller has put the decimal point in the wrong place. I think they're £3.50 unpainted, not £305!  :o

I don't know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.
