Short battle report: Napoleonic battle of Bergbosen, 1813
« on: August 23, 2011, 01:27:24 PM »
Hi friends,

after the teaser picts from Admiral Benbow (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=31934.0), that shows you our big Napoleonic Black Powder game, here are some new picts with partial report about the battle we fought.

The french troops must defeat the prussian army at the small village BERGBOSEN in autumn 1813.
Therefore they must build a ponton bridge over the river to unite their splitet army.

When you come to CRISIS, Antwerp, Belgium this year (5th November) come along to our THS gaming table.
There you can see these setting/scenario LIVE!
You can also see this and some other interesting things on www.ths-wargames.de.

And now ... enjoy the picts ...

French light infantry take the EBERSBERG in the beginning of the battle and the westphalian artillery goes into position.

The prussian artillery take their positions.

The Westphalian infantry march into the village BERGBOSEN on the french left wing.

The french/westphalian advance in the centre.

Prussian artillery in the north of the village BERGBOSEN ...

... that is now completely occupied by the westphalian troops.

The "spearhead" of the french pontoneers reach the battlefield and goes immediate to the river, protected by light troops.

The Prussian cavalry goes into a position to charge the french centre ... but ...

... the massive french cavalry countercharge push it back from the battle for this day!

This action opens the way for the french infantry attack columns with support from the Guard Lancers.

After the winning of the centre of the battlefield, the french pioneers begins to build the ponton bridge.

Meanwhile the prussians starts a last attack on the french right wing to take the church occupied by light french troops and westphalian guard chasseurs.

But it is to late. The bridge is ready for the crossing ...

... even if there is the danger of burning ships and jaegers on small boats to prevent the crossing.

But light french troops stops the boats and the crossing starts with the bagage train.

SHORT INFO:
... gaming table approx 7 metres long and 1.50 metres in the deep.
... approx. over 1000 figures involved
... the superb buildings are from GRAND MANNER
... the ponton bridge ist from RENEDRA/the boats from REDOUBT
... the burning boats, the baggage train and the ponton waggons are completely scratchbuild
... many of the french pioneers and pontoneers are conversions from/with parts of the ranges from Perrys Miniatures, Redoubt, Victrix, Warlord Games and other.

Thanks for looking.

Once again, a spectacular set up  :-* :-* :-*

Are the pontoon wagons taken from historical information or are they made up?

Yes, taken from historical infos.
Only the size is a little greater than the original one.

Very impressive setup. Miniature painting, scenery and buildings were all at a high level of craftsmanship. Especially the baggage train is catching my eye. I'm really looking forward to see this presentation live.
Everybody who isn't able to visit the Crisis in Antwerp this year (like me) have a second chance to see this stunning presentation at Hamburg Tactica in February 2012.
