More Monsteritis from GW/ New Ogre Kingdoms
« on: 26 August 2011, 03:42:48 PM »
Just received my White Dwarf in the mail.
New Ogre Kingdom's Codex + minis are on the way.
Couldn't find any piccies on the GW site tho.

Thundertusk

Stonehorn

There are also Mournfang Cavalry, Ironblaster/Scraplauncher (warmachine), and some characters.
I think the Ogre Kingdom army needed more of the above for variety but those monsters are simply huge.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

On the rather daft side  :?  ::)

I'd be slightly interested in the background fluff on how they get on, winch or bloody big ladders  lol

cheers

...but those monsters are simply huge.

IMHO not only are they HUGE they're AWFULLY UGLY too!

Seems to me like GW designers/sculptors have lost grasp to reality.

Including lots of pointy bits + skullz in each and every miniature is becoming like and old bad joke.

But then, that's only my opinion.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

I just thought, bloody hell how much are they going to be asking for those?

I have not bought GW for years so am very out of touch on their pricing but in this case I think it better I do not even look as I dont want them and would prefer to sleep easy at night ;D

Thoroughly agree with your thoughts, Svenn. Do I really want to know? No, it will only set me off on a rant.

Was thinking that they could possibly be used for conversion, but you wouldnt spend that much on something to chop it up.
I think I am with the majority on this one; It's a 'Pass' from me.

Pics are up tomorrow on the GW website.

This is according to their new information policy by combining the WD release date with the Web presence.
All the pics you may have seen so far are from a digital Ogre Army book that roams the I-net.

That means these Ogres are not official looking meh, you will have to wait for the GW Photos to confirm that  ;D

How the hell does that Thundertusk eat? Its face can't reach the ground!

How the hell does that Thundertusk eat? Its face can't reach the ground!

It mashes its prey to a slushy pulp with its mighty thunder-tusks and then imbibes the resulting mess through a straw which it keeps tucked behind its ear.

On another note I think that GW should start drugs-testing all its designers on a regular (as in bi-weekly) basis, because those guys are obviously rocking some seriously gnarly shit...

I'm not a GW fan, haven't bought a model for years. But I actually think these are nice.

But then again, I don't want to pay half a leg for it...

And when they issue kits that big, couldn't they at least not insult out intelligence by using the exact same body for each??

I think they are pretty nice, and the tusks don't bother me. I mean, it's a mammoth with two ogres riding on it's back - realism is out the window.

Doubt it'll be worth the £30 or whatever GW want.

I know the recent monsters for storm of magic cost just under $60.00 CDN so probably similar to that.

That means these Ogres are not official looking meh, you will have to wait for the GW Photos to confirm that  ;D
But these photos were in WD. SO they are GW photos.....

With the silly GW embargo to the southern hemisphere, we folks here will pass it on!  lol

BTW: a closer look to GW's policy in their own words - There was no sin in Naggaroth save weakness: the Witch King commanded the fealty of conquerors and slave masters - anything less was prey. Malus Darkblade novel.

To be fair it is one kit that can make either of those models.

Of course how much extra GW are charging you to end up with an extra head and saddle thing is anyone's guess, I suppose with liberal use of magnets you could get it set up to be switchable between the two.

On the big beasties themselves they aren't to my particular tastes, and I've never liked the GW plastic Ogres.
