10mm AWI/FIW blockhouse
« on: August 26, 2011, 07:52:13 PM »
I was recently asked to make a 10mm blockhouse for early American gaming (AWI/FIW) for a very nice chap on this here very forum (in return for a few goodies  :D ) and I fnished it Wednesday but I've only got round to posting today  ::)

It went a bit bigger than I first thought (as these things always seem to do) but I think the end result has worked out well.

I haven't got any 10mm figures that would suit but it's on a base about 150mm by 100mm. There will be a bigger write up on my blog at the weekend (limited posting time tonight  :( )

Any c+c appreciated  :)

cheers

James

well, i have to say that i love it! First of all i like the base: even if i'm not a fan of the scatter grass (or however it's called), i like the final look. The fence made from toothpicks is simple but well formed, and the stones are really realistic: how did you do them? :)

My only suggestion for the next projects is to use a different material for the base: don't know wich one, but this one looks too thick (for a 10mm it is a huge step!) and easy to bend-warp in the time!

great work, as your usual! :)

Thanks chaps  :)

@ Sangennaru - At this scale it's quite difficult to get decent looking ground work but I think it does the job  :) The base is out of 3mm MDF, if I were to do it again I'd probably make it from thin perspex. Most of the other small stuff I do is from Perspex but I had this to hand and was pretty much the right size  :)
