Looking for the right Miniature
« on: 30 August 2011, 01:29:54 AM »
Hey guys-

first time on the Western board as it really isn't my cup of  tea, but I need your expertise all the same. I'm starting work on a pulp campaign right now, and looking for a stalwart native american companion for our Canadian Mountie hero. I am familiar with some more tribal Indians from conquest and what not, but seeing as this campaign is years after the western era and any wars involving Cowboys and Indians I need a fresh look. Do you guys know of any miniatures of a native man dressed in formal garb, a European look, the white man's clothes? Bowler hat would be a bonus. I'm looking for a rugged meets modern ('40s) look but anything will suffice at the end of the day. I would also appreciate some sort of weapon on him- tomahawks to bowie knifes to a good rifle. But once again anything meeting the basic criteria will do. Any help would be met with gracious praise.

A preemptive thanks!

I'm betting you'll need to kitbash a couple of figures together to get all you want but the basic means is to simply paint a figure with native American skin tones and black hair.  Sounds like a cool figure to come up with.  Good luck.

He's not wearing formal clothes, but its not tribal wear either

I did as fifteensaway suggests and went with just skin tone and black hair which worked quite well. It was understated but noticed, and stayed away from too heavy of a stereotype.

Alternatively try adding a braid or two to some of the northern figures from Pulp or Recreational Conflicts.

Thanks for all your help guys, but I think coggen hit the spot. I know its not as formal as I said it was looking for, but I think it does the trick! Just need to do a quick weapon swap and replace the pistol with a tomahawk! Thanks again fellas.

Don't know if its what you want but probably could be modified

A little late to the party, perhaps, but there's the Foundry Delaware that could be converted:

Seem to be missing from the Foundry site at present, mind you.
