1:50 Scale Battle Car "Holy Roller" added 11/09/11
« on: September 06, 2011, 06:15:35 PM »
Slightly different from my usual work, I thought I'd have a go at  building a battle car.
I used to have shed-loads of Dark Future stuff and really enjoyed the genre. I've got a few 1:50 scale Hotwheels knocking about so I thought I'd give one a bit of a rebuild.
Quite a simple conversion with a bit of plastic card, plastic rod and a few bits from my bits box. I was going to put an armoured "Tombstone" on the back but settled for a shield ( like the OLD James Bond Aston)

I'll probably stick with 1:64 for gaming and the bigger models for display.

Fantastic car - I have seven or eight of those Hot Wheels "G-Machines" for exactly the same purpose, and this one looks like it's going to serve as the inspiration I need! I love the sign on the door, and the additions (gun, shield, etc.) are perfect. Great work. Plus, they look so good with 28mm miniatures!

Nice car. Very nicely done. I love the dropper and window armour.

I have used one or two of those cars for 28mm death race and mad max style cars.

Where did you get the spot lamps?

Thanks for the comments.
Sorry I don't know where the spot lamps came from ( my bitz box). The front fender is from cell entertainment although the minigun is scratch built with plastic rod and a section from a GW Sentinel exhaust.

Anyhow, a few pics of another 1:50 hotwheels conversion, this time the "Holy Roller".

Another simple conversion with a scratch built rear shield and window-armour. It's sporting 2 HMGs made from bits from a Robogear kit and dressed with some other bits from my bitz box.

Love it. The shields at the back of both cars look excellent, and what's great about them is the trade off between how hard it is, and the result you actually get. In other words, not too hard to do, but looks brilliant! On the other hand, I'm guessing that the excellent window armour took quite a bit of measuring and cutting of plasticard to get the right effect. I'm definitel going to try to reproduce it, after seeing how good it looks here! And finally, I love the cross hood-ornament on the Holy Roller, and the painting and weathering on both is superb. Definitely going to have to dig mine out and have another look at them now!
