Thanks agin, Janer, Jonas and Mason!

A trip down memory lane there, I have not seen any Grenadier Elves for a long time.
You ought to get hold of some, they are some really lovely sculpts and as I said a joy to paint.

Those old citadel archers are a pain to paint!  I did a few some years ago and they sucked!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggled with them.

Yours turned out nice enough though! =) And I really like the Grenadier woodies! Will be back for inspiration for mine, whenever that day comes. =D

Well last night I met up with Torben for a game, and he brought along his newly painted warband. We've been slowly forging a ruleset that suits us and have been playing around with it. Here met Meglathon with his arch nemesis 'Rhinoman' (for wont of a better name).

Meglathon's stomach rumbled, it'd been a few days since he'd had anything decent to eat. His scout 'Watchit' came riding back 'There's a abandoned cottage over the way and there's a stack of food outside, unfortunately there's a Chaos warband just on the other side of the woods and I think they're seen it to and are on the way towards it.' Meglathon stood up 'Let's go get dinner lads!'

Both warbands started in corners along the same edge and where racing to get the supplies outside the woodsman's cottage at the other end of the table.

The warband of Meglathon line up ready for dinner.

The glutinous warband of Rhinoman prepare for battle.

The two warbands face each other accross the field

Watchit and the elf savages make for the cottage, while the rest of the warband try to hold Rhinoman off.

Unfortunately at this point the camera died. The battle ended with Meglathon's stomach still growling and a good part of his warband with severe cuts and bruises. The rules worked very well and with a bit a bit of tweeking we ought to have a ruleset that'll fit us nicely.

Lots of nice brushwork. I had forgotten those Grenadier elves - they are just as nice as some of the old Goodwin wood elves from Citadel.  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I guess we just have to have a go at a rematch then, eh Duncan? I mean, so you can get yourself some pretty pictures, of course ;)

And yes, those Grenadier Elves are absolutely brilliant; Dijits brushwork does them good!

Thanks one and all!
I think the Woodelves are some of the nicest sculpts from the old Grenadier range and, really full of character and nicely sculpted. As I think I said elsewhere they just sort of paint themselves.

Torben: have you got a name for Rhinoman yet?

Too bad the Camera punked out...Cameras are contrary creatures at best...the photos are WONDERFUL! Both War Bands look SPLENDID...GREAT WORK!

I agree: the Grenadier Elves are really a joy to paint as are most of their line. That might be why all the ones I had are painted & placed in nicer homes.
