I have finally finished a unit of figures for myself, I present Gloucesters Men at Arms and Billmen



Here with the bow bases I finished a while ago



and a base of mercenary handgunners



All block painted, dipped and highlighted back up. More shots on my blog page.

Nicely faded, but not too faded, colors which look like pre-industrial dyes.

What are they based for?

I've tried dip, but cannot see the advantage over a wash.

I'd be interested to know what draws people to it...

Thanks for the positive comments chaps.

I have based them so that two bases together will be useable for Impetus, when I have enough I will also try Hail Caesar as basing does not seem to be an issue, I'm doing both sides so they will be based the same anyway.

I don't see any advantage apart from giving it a coat of varnish as well, I was given the tin so it seemed a pity not to try it out, but when it runs out I will probably go back to the 3 colour method.

Glad it's not just me - and the waiting for the varnish to dry can be a pain ...
