Is 1/48 okay? I've seen the HLBS ones, sold also at Copplestone Castings, and they look quite decent and reasonably priced:

Also, Sloppy Jalopy have a range in 1/56, and those look quite good - also, since the hulls are predominantly single-piece resin castings (IIRC), they are far easier to assemble than the multi-piece metal ones.

T-55s cheap on ebay that fit  perfectly with 28mm. Not exactly modern these days.

Imprint kits are 1/50th, but work very well IMO (I use them anyway).

Also a pretty good selection with T72M1, T80UK,T90 and BMP3.

Ki-Tech kits, although 1/48th, look very good with LAM figures, and very cheap on ebay about £10.00 inc. postage.

1:48 is too large for classic 28mm
have smb BTR-80 from S&S models?
and about T72 tank, which is better - from Imprint or Chieftain?

Well if you that's your take on size vs scale you are probably better off with the Chieftain version as it would be 1/56. Imprint is 1/50 and there's only a four percent difference in scale. For me, I have a selection of 1/50 diecasts and I'm quite happy with how they scale up with my Eureka 28mm, which are probably a little smaller than some 28mm figures out there. Mine are based on washers too, not plastic bases that add another 3mm to their height.

Horses for courses and beggars can't be choosers. You use what looks right with 28mm. I'm happy with my 1/60 Dinky, my 1/50 Solido, the odd 1/64 and 1/55 scale car and even the Kitech BTR-80 I have.

Bear in mind that true scale isn't always so, even with injection moulded kits. I have an unbuilt Academy T-72 that is nominally 1/48 that is way over scale, it looks closer to 1/40 if truth be told Drew the line with that one, besides the kit had parts missing.
