Seconded on the Ainsty castings range, they have all sorts of shelving units and vending machines, Black cat bases have vending machines, Fenris games have some very useable pieces too.

Jake,

This may not solve all of your furniture needs, but may take care of your free-standing shelves . . .

Why not get hold of the largest Evergreen/Plastruct H beams/columns you can find.  Cut them into two-inch sections, and then glue them stacked one on top of another to the desired height (flat to flat end).

Does that sound like it could work?

Dan,

That could work, and my skill level (or lack there of) may even be up to it.  BUT I don't need empty shelves.   I need shelves packed with gummy worms and cheetoze and slim jims and super king sized candy bars and bags of funions and moon-pies, and plenty of products containing ephedrine (to help out the meth crew).

I'm not looking for a storage room or old west wood counters though.  I am looking for stuff you see in any modern convenience store.   Oil cans and ammo crates don't cut it.

I suggest you have a little bit of flexibility in what your looking for, or be prepared to do some conversion work on what's out there. Alternatively just go into your favourite store, take some pictures of their glass units then print out so you have the modern contents you need, build some simple display units, use some clear plastic and put the photo's behing the glass.

With regards to shelving again find the product you want via google images, reduce and print and add to little box sections etc...

Unlike a convenience store....what you want isn't generally just off the shelf.

CptJake,

Did you ever find a solution to the problem?

I bought an HO plastic building I plan to use as a convenient store for 15mm and would love to hear how you arrived at a solution, or if you are still on your quest.

I hope you discovered something easy and inexpensive because my remaining options are getting very limited and pricey:

Thanks,

Another alternative would be to contact this modeller and ask him more about this project of his:

I did get those resin pieces, but they won't help Dan as he is looking for 15mm.

I also contacted the guy who did that 7-11, and he never answered.

Additionally I ordered some card stock O scale prints from:  http://stores.ebay.com/Custom-Miniatures-from-Mike-Cedro?_rdc=1

He does have HO stuff that should work for 15mm.  His coke machines and similar items are nice.  The card interior for a store is okay, but it is made to be viewed from one side, so the candy shelf (for example) has three sides and the fourth is black/blank.  I am going to be able to use some of that kit, but not all.

One good option, apart Frontline and Ainsty, is to locate items available for train modellers and also ship modellers.
You will surprised to see that there is a lot of items suitable to be used, including for example ice cubes imitations!
These of course cost some..

If you want to go for cheaper options a good alternative is "printable" for dollhouses. Images and pdf that can easily scaled to suit your needs offering from pizza to milk package and cigar boxes to even paper money! Just search for printables and you have a very large selection. You need some scatch building for the shelves etc. For rows of products you just cut a foam to the correct dimensions and you stick one printed paper showing only the side of the product you need.

One fellow LAFer has used some printables and images collected  and has extremely good results, here is the link:

Jake,

A couple of suggestions. Shelves should be easy enough, Two triangles of plasticard, squared at the top with appropriate lengths of plasticard as shelves.

I've found that the sprue frames for 1/72 plastic kits can be cut into suitable lengths to make cans. I've made a few as litter for a slum.  Plastic bags, like crisp packets can be made with aluminium foil, roll a bit into a ball and then envelope with another piece.

As most of the fridges in these sort of places are  almost flush with the walls, I reckon you could go with an appropriately scaled photo, covered with a plastic OHP or shirt box transparency and then build a simple frame over that in plasticard.

Jake,

That link helps a lot!  I definitely need all sorts of vending machines for the outside, including ice vending.

Thanks so much,

Dan
