Eureka vs. Empress Taliban Minis?
« on: November 02, 2011, 05:51:02 PM »
Which do you prefer?  Why?

I'm planning to make an order and they both look nice.

I love Empress's crisp quality.  The Eureka ones look great but more stocky, like Copplestone as opposed to like Hasslefree, if that makes sense.  Is this accurate?  Anyone seen both types?

Thanks!

Actually, the Eureka ones can look a little 'undernurished' compared to some of the Empress or TAG ones... But overall, they all play nicely with one another...

Just make sure you get a nice mix of AK's and RPG's... and if you want stingers, then Eureka is your only option...

and dont forget they do some very nice civilians as well.. which are 100% essential for playing modern games in my opinion... the last Force on Force game we played, the US special forces opened fire in a crowded market square under sniper fire, fired M203 grenades at a roof top, missed, and took out a bus full of civilians.....

In the context of the game it was funny, for about 30 seconds, then you realise how 'easy' it would be for that to happen in real life... not quite as funny then... gave the game an edge to say the least!

Money can't buy you happiness but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

More natural posing? Eureka. That said the Empress minis are very nice and the two ranges mix well. Why limit yourself to one or the other?  If ypu want support weapons like DshKm or Chinese MRLs then Eureka are the way to go.

Both mix in well, I also used Mongrel ones too which are closer to the Eureka ones and for the 1980s

I have figures from both companies.
The figures do mix well with each.
I tend to side with Eureka, as I like the way they pose their figures.
Use both if you can.
Also the old Mongrel figures are great little figures.

ErikB,
Went and took a couple photos of different companies figures.
Not the best pics, but as you can see the figures fit well with each other.
Figure order is, Eureka, Empress, Mongrel.

As you can see I put a quarter under two of the bases to make them the same height.
Hopes this helps.

Nice job.  That really answered my question.

I hope you're using washers, not quarters, as bases.  That can get pricey, fast.

If one mini is, say, $3, that's 12 quarters.  If you're making a Marine squad then you're down by one SSgt.  :)

Unless I'm much mistaken the central figure in the top photo is also a Eureka mini. Which just goes to show how easy they are to mix.

Guys, sorry to disappointed you, I am not that rich. :'(
Just used the quarters to raise the figures so the bases would be level.
But if everyone on the Forum would send me a quarter, I would be rich. lol
Carlos, you are probably right. Thanks for the correction.
I tend to think of the Eureka guys as the guys with the flat top type of hats.
Empress wearing more turban type hats.

Excellent pictures! It's great to know there is some decent variety out there. Having just bought almost every Taliban figures from Eureka I can see that I'll need more for some Force on Force games in the near future. I may condense the two pics in this thread and add them to the Scale-O-Matic if that's ok?

Christain,
Please use the pictures as you would like.
I could also take a few more.
A question, would it be better to post a few new photos in this thread or start another thread and put them in them.?
