I hope this is the right board for this kind of request.

Mainly miniatures in 25/28mm, but 15-20mm would be also OK. I guess the Eureka Russo-Turkish War Turks could be used?

If anybody has any recommendations on websites and/or books on background details, uniforms, etc., please let me know!

Thanks!

Tiger miniatures do an early c20th Balkan wars range:

Their figures are of very mixed quality - personally I wouldn't order blind, some are really nice, others a bit suspect, but each to his/her own.

Having said that there are some decent pictures on their website and the Balkan Wars stuff is amongst their better ranges. I seem to rememebr reading a review that said the metal was very brittle - so you may want to take that into account if planning conversions.

I'd consider the Perrys to be more suited to the Greek War of Independence than Velestino. Interesting subject... last time I heard of this conflict was at school. :)

going for 1897 you need the tiger miniatures balkan war greeks, painted in blues.  All infantry, cavalry and artillery can be used if you are not strict for uniforms.

for evzones use only BWG005 Greek Elite evzone infantry in 1897 style uniform. the other pack does not fit.
officers wore the army's uniform (and not evzonic)
A small inspiration:

As for Turks: Outpost games Turks can be used. They are more correct, time wise. Tiger ones yes but better use the reservist packs. Again the colour of the uniform is blue (red fez).

(Yes, Remington, you are right.  the peryy bashibouzouks are not suitable for 1897. Some of them might be used for 1821/GWI)

The newer figs in the range are of a much better quality than the original releases. The Balkan range looked good to me when I saw them in the flesh.
