Wanted: Gaunt undertaker\ Creepy ringmaster in 28mm
« on: November 21, 2011, 06:22:54 AM »
I'm looking for something fairly specific, namely a thinish mini with a top hat and a long coat (cravatte optional)
Ideally i would like him to have a face free of accessories (like glasses) & hands that I could sculpt or swap without too much hassle.
the Wyrd miniatures chap with the vulture comes closest from what i have found, but not quite there (due to glasses and a vulture)

I know this forum has been very helpful in the past & that you guys & gals are the best folk to ask. so, any suggestions?

What about this one?

The chap at the top of the picture in the long coat.

I have another link to a better photo here (Which I can't upload here for some odd reason):

He is Westwind Miniatures in the Gothic Horror range, From the Victorian Gentlemen pack under the Dr Jkyll packs. You will need to do a bit of converting to remove his facial hair and glasses though...

How about the old Confrontation Undertaker.  You can still find him on ebay and the like

Excellent suggestions so far.  ;)

One cheap alternative might be the Heroclix Ringmaster from the Circus of Crime:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=heroclix+ringmaster&_sacat=220&_odkw=dark+elf&_osacat=220&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

You might have to slice the hypno-disk off his hat, but his hands should be easy to swap out...

Alternatively, there a nice Undertaker in the Foundry Old West range (although he's got his hands behind his back):

Bottom left miniature of this pack - Blue moon Romanian civilians - may work (and you can add 23 miniatures to your lead mountain  :D).

There used to be Mr Ghastly - I have no idea if he's still available

http://historifigs.com/ghastlyco.htm , the link to the website of the producing company is dead though

This was started as a project someone set up for a sick friend, where you could paint up this figure and send it to him as a world wide 'get well soon' project. I think deedfriedhappymice and scale Creep Miniatures were mixed up in  there somehow. It's from around 2004, so I'm a bit vague on the details.

Not quite what you had in mind, but a ringmaster nonetheless.

Well, when I'm finished with the green stuff, I'm thinking something along these lines

You should have said you were looking for The Hitcher, I've been looking at this model as a basis for him:

http://www.heresyminiatures.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_11_25&products_id=25

But I'm not sure if he still comes with the alternate top had head which you can see in some of the other pictures of him.

I have had similar thoughts about doing the Boosh crew, and thought that this Uncle Sam figure from Reaper would make an excellent Hitcher:

A hand swap for something holding a knife, and a little bit of green stuff (and paint) and we'll all be singing the Eels song.

Did yer like that, boy? Did yer? That was a bad time for you wasn't it, boy?

 lol

I think he would look good with a fleshy maraca: a thumb of GIGANTIC proportions! SOLD!
Might use the Droogs from Crooked dice as the Piper twins too.

Hey look, A figure for the spirit of jazz:

So, in fact, this one is quite good, not requiring the removal of the beard, and only one 'lens'. ;->=

Something tells me The Mighty Boosh is an acquired taste, but I see that Netflix has 'em. Ah well, fools rush in...

I become more and more confused. I'd found a blog that claimed they were Old Glory's London Gentlemen, and had a bare metal group shot that included our dapper friend, an entry I can't find on the OG site. To confuse me more, OG sells Westwind as well.  lol

My search fu wanes...

Doug

Edit: I see them referred to as GHJ-5, and there now appears to be GHJ-1 through 4 on the OG site. Perhaps discontinued.
