Empire Landsknechts for Mordheim (Warband finished 10/12)
« on: 08 December 2011, 11:28:34 AM »
First half of a small commission. Started out with the plastic half of the order and saved the nice metal models for later.

Thanks :-)

Painting a couple of the metal models now, I think the entire warband will look neat together when done. The metal models really have a lot more character in them than the generic plastic "unit box" models.

Thanks guys  :)

I will add a few white reflections on the black armour once the last miniature is painted.
It will look a bit like the reflections I painted on my Malifaux Freikorps miniatures and add a little more detail to those surfaces.

These 3 models are all metal btw, I cannot stress the difference  in quality between these and the plastics. Frankly I had a hard time paiting the plastic models, I guess I've gotten used to painting metal stuff over the last couple of years since I quit GW gaming. It just felt as if the paints acted weirdly on the plastic models.

very nice! ;) I really like that guy in full plate...very nice figure. I would add reflections on armour but maybe I'd use a light metal colour instead of white. And myabe I'd use a glossy varnish too on a black armour.
I have to admit I definetly prefer to paint plastics minis. The painture is more reliable, it's easier to scratch a metal mini than a plastic one. And plastic is so funny to convert! :) BTW when you paint plastics I think it's very important to use a good primer for a better grip. I use gw skullwhite and I think is one of the best for plastics.

Some very nice models and paintjobs there, Anatoli!

Like the colour scheme that you have chosen, it suits the subject matter very well.

Looking forward to more!

Very nice indeed, I like the colour scheme as well, it's dark and different but it does look good :)

I think a gloss on the black armour would look very nice 8)

Thanks guys, the models will be matt varnished by the customer himself once he gets them back early next week. I hope he will post the models here with proper basing and after a coat of matt varnish  :)

Last miniature painted up, I also took a group picture of the 8 man warband. Check my blog for more pictures:

The last piece is a suitably dramatic finale to a FINE War Band. VERY WELL DONE...I'm sure your patron will be delighted.
