Sci-Fi Teddy Bears?
« on: December 12, 2011, 12:12:07 PM »
Never thought I'd ask for this, but I've gotten hold of a new, FATE-based sci-fi RPG called Bulldogs that features a among its many races a group of vile little Teddy Bear-like dudes called Usemites.  They're among the universe's most reviled races.  They smoke bad cigars, commit crimes, act as mercenaries, and generally piss people off.  Anyway, here's a link to the web site for the game:

http://galileogames.com/bulldogs-fate/

I'd like to get some miniatures that will represent Ursemites.  I have not had any luck finding them yet.  I think some Mega Minis might be close:

Either the Trog Chimps or the little vermin guys.

I also have a decent sized 15mm sci-fi collection and I could use 15mm if a better option exists there. One of the other races is Snake-Men, and Critical Mass makes some pretty sweet 15mm snake-men.  Thanks for any leads!

Well, he's not a teddy bear, but as the game is called Bulldogs, I couldn't help but think of this guy from Hasslefree:-

and I believe further sci-fi dogs are planned. Maybe you could convince them to add teddy bears?

Eurika Miniatures do a few teddy bear lines. Napoleonic (Seven Years Picnic), Romans (I Cuddlius), Wild West (The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly), Pirate Teddy bears, Zulu Teddy bears (Rorkes Picnic) and some in wooden box type Biplanes for WW1 style dog fighting (Bearoplanes).

Maybe something from those ranges could help you out?

Thanks!  I will give the Eureka guys another look.  Critter Commandos has a few prospects as well.

While it maybe more Horror than SciFi, for pure bad attitude Wyrd'd Teddy is something to consider...or not.

Alas, that figure is far too large for an Ursemite, who are Ewok sized!

Eureka miniatures do a series of teddy bears ranges called "Bears at play"

There is talk of a SF range in that series.

However they lean more to cute than "bad taste bears" style

In 15mm Khurusan have their Ursid mercenaries which are probably just what you're looking for.
