Nemo's Crew Uniforms
« on: 16 December 2011, 05:36:01 PM »
Ok, I've bougt some sikhs to act as the crew of the Natalus. Any suggestions on uniform color other than the blue and white used in LEG movie. These are NWF Sikhs so they have rifles and web gear and normally kaki uniforms. Anyone??

Complete white uniform, blue turban and webbing, black boots?

You could paint them like these guys, in a nod to the classic movie: http://www.disneysub.com/files/lobby5.jpg

Or use green accents to match the comic version of the captain:

How about black?
They are submariners, so maybe a more sinister look....

I like the blue and white proposal - much more sailory looking.

The thought of using Hinterland sailors did cross my mind, but I already have the Sikhs. However the next ship that needs a crew I am leaning toward the Hinterland sailors.

What about the dark blue and green that is somewhat traditional of the comics?

I was looking for an excuse to buy those sailors, and you may have just given it to me
Thank you, Froggy!

(You bad man, my missus will not be best pleased. At least she cannot accuse me of buying more 'little men'!)

If you go back to the original source (i.e. Verne's novel), the crew wore purple clothing (think in terms of Imperial Roman purple - Nemo used the same sea urchins for the dye that the Romans used). I think boots (and caps?) were sealskin.

I seem to recall one of the 16th century Indian armies wore vermillion turbans.
Can't remember which one.
