Been busy painting fantasy
« on: December 19, 2011, 05:04:27 AM »
I have been moving back an forth between 3 projects here is the fantasy side.  Just got started playing DnD for the first time.  Love it so had to make figures for my characters.  Also finished up an oop chaos warband.

My Chaos warband consisting of Daemonettes, Knights, and warhounds.

Some pringle can huts from an old white dwarf article repainted.

Lovely work mate. By D&D I hope you mean old school and none of this 4th ed junk ;)
Really like the Minotaur. Where'd you source him from?

No we play a very loose 3.5.  This is my very first venture into rpg and have only played two actual games.  I must say though I really enjoy it.  Not sure I like the fit though of 3.5,  have been looking at Old School Hack as maybe a better fit.  The Minotaur is from http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=948.  They take forever to post but worth the wait and smooth communication.

An EXCELLENT collection of minis...all VERY NICELY painted & based. VERY WELL DONE!

Way back when I was young & foolish, as opposed to my present state of old & foolish, I got into AD&D. One of the draws was that there where just a few minis that had to be painted up for the game. Well I loved the game & twenty years later I was still adding more minis to the few that were necessary...enjoy the experience.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

The mino is from Scibor, I didn't realise how massive it was!
Nice figure though.

Great painting - thanks for the look

I too have just started DnD,  but 4th edition, and think it wonderful as a stand alone tactical miniatures game -we  don't do any role-playing as such, just have at it with the cold steel and magic missiles.  Skill challenges and conditions make combat really interesting.  An encounter or two in a night is just about right for us.

With the tactics in the 4e Monster Manual and monster roles it is also surprisingly good as a solo game (and challenging - running 4 heroes with all their powers and feats and the monsters also needs concentration).

No dear, they are not toys, they are models

Dude... If you're playing 3.5, no matter how loosely... Check out Pathfinder. I was so disappointed when 4th ed was released and voiced my opinions quite loudly in the local store. I was invited to participate in an Alpha playtest of the Pathfinder adaption of the 3.5 OGL. Seriously man, if you like 3.5. Get on Pathfinder. It wants to be on you.

HUGE fan of pathfinder here. I can only recommend it!

As a bonus Reaper has most of the characters of that game as miniatures. Man, those rule! So detailed it took me weeks to paint them. I especially like the fighter miniature in the pose you see on the cover. Kick ass!

They also do a red Dragon in the same pose as on the cover, painting it up now. So tasty! :)
The two coolest things I find about Pathfinder, skill points and cross class skills have been made so much easier. And the classes have been filled out properly so there's a reason to play high level single class characters. Unless someone is going for a prestige class its really rare to see multi-class Characters because the class abilities get really cool.

What I liked about Pathfinder is the Golarion setting and the first AP, Rise of the Runelords. If anyone wants those books, I've got most of the books for sale (4 or 5 out of 6). Haven't gotten around to list them yet. Also have some source books, let me know if it's of interest.

And oh, fucking awesome miniatures you got there, airbornegrove26!

Thanks for all the fine comments guys.  Will really look into pathfinder, sounds like it will really fit my style.  Now to convert the group, lol.  Have any of you looked into Old School Hack?
