Armoured GI in 0.45 - help needed
« on: 15 December 2007, 11:33:58 AM »
Hi all,
I have just completed the first of two old mecha-type beasties which I intend to use as 28mm scale walkers - the model included a bazooka-type weapon, and seemed to fit WWII, so I splashed US colours on and no. 1 is done. No. 1 (good name, I guess) is a robotic AGI (Armoured GI) W-6 walker attached to the 3rd Light Walker Battalion, the Spades.
Now the problem is: how can I use him in 0.45? I could use the super soldier option from the WWII rule set, but he doesn't quite fit. I would be happy to modify a set of rules for the beastie, but would appreciate suggestions.
Thanks for looking.

The new "Super Science Tales" supplement has rules for power armor in it, including rules for how to purchase it as part of a team. In the meantime, try using the War Veteran archetype from the main rules, and treat the Power Armor as a set of DR enhancements for each location.

Ah, so that's what it is - wasn't familiar with this lot (yes, I practically live in the back of beyond).
Thanks for the illumination - and the suggestion too, looks like I might have to get the Super Science supplement  :)

Here's the LAF Forum Member Connection to Super Science Tales:

I built the Russian Power Armor in that book based off the plan created by the very talented Westfalia Chris. His "doll part" power armor design may by my favorite of his scratchbuilds. It broke a sort of creative funk I was in. One weekend I whipped one out, and just for giggles painted it up in Russian colors.

At the time I wasn't doing Weird War, so I gave it to Rich. It had a suitably amusing cameo in Rich's "Airship over the Ardennes" game, and then the next time it showed up was this book.

That'll be powerED armour as power armour is always a misconception. ;)
