Shuttle Deconstructed
« on: January 06, 2012, 10:11:22 PM »
Had something of a frustrating time during my Wings build (on The Guild)

After having received the Secret Saturdays Griffin Jet, it was put to work as a toy for Isabel. For better usage, I inserted the (all too easy to insert) handle underneath the body. Problem was, 20 minutes later the handle wouldn't come out!

Depite much wrangling it wouldn't budge. Of course, in this state in was unusable, but it seemed that further wrangling threatened to break the housing

I did the same thing with mine.  If you just unscrew the housing around the handle from the inside it will come out without damaging the vehicle.  I then used plasticcard to cover the hole.  Word of warning:  coat the rubber nosecone and wingtips in PVA or something before spraying or it will be permanently sticky.
This is my boomstick!

That internal housing didn't come loose for me unfortunately (nothing a hammer couldn't solve though!)
I had coated the soft rubber with PVA alright - I think I had read a tip along those lines a while back - thanks for the confirmation!

That looks fantastic. My buddy has one of those shuttles too. I only found one, and it was when I was low on cash. I figured I'd come back in a couple days and pick it up then. I guess the other gamers in the area had some scratch at the time, because she was gone.

Really nice looking set up. I think you've inspired me to do an air field too.
