Pirate Miniature from FatCat
« on: 22 December 2007, 11:54:00 AM »
Hi Guys,

Following a gauntlet being thrown on Frothers, I offered my meagre skills to Jonas Deimel, the man behind FatCat Miniatures, and whose work you have discussed in other threads.

This is my take on his rather excellent new "Seaman" figure.

Hope you like it. All comments and criticism (especially about the painting) are welcome as usual.

The new pics should be going into his webshop soon, and the mini is already available to buy here:

Thanks!

JB

I rather like this.  The dark red coat and black-rimmed, deep set eyes look very good.

Very nicely done, JollyBob. As with Orctrader, I do like those black-rimmed eyes. They give him a sinister look. You did a great job with the reds and the weathering on his trousers. I like the base as well, since it looks like a beach and doesn't detract from the figure.

It's a nice little figure! I think you should send me one.

Why thank y'all.

This figure was hopefully going to be the first of many that I was gonna do for Jonas, but due to personal commitments he's not taking any commissions or doing any more new sculpts for a while.

His shop (linked above) is still open, but unfortunately for me, he's quite happy with the existing pics for the other models there. I was just going to paint his new ones for him, but now there won't be any for a while.

I don't really know why he's taken a break, but I hope it doesn't last too long, and we can pick up where we left off pretty soon. His minis are really fun to paint, and he's getting better with each one he does, so the chance to hitch my name to an up and coming sculptor's would be too good an oportunity to miss.
