You can see there is a definite McBride flavour to his work. Cracking artwork, I hope Osprey will commision him a lot in the future.
Absolutely.
He is definitely (consciously or otherwise) using many of Angus McBride's visual tricks and techniques. It's not just in the composition of the paintings, it's the texture, the colour palette, the style of the figure drawing, and favourite McBride motifs like the circling crows...
When I was still a yoof (like, 30 years ago), I wrote to Angus McBride to ask him about his painting techniques, because I yearned to paint like him. I got a very nice, long handwritten letter back from him (he lived in South Africa) explaining all about it.
I really must find where I put it!

He was a superb artist and a very nice man to boot. Sorely missed...
