Strange Aeons board WIP
« on: 10 February 2012, 04:11:38 AM »
Just thought I'd share a few WIP shots of my new Strange Aeons 2'x3' regulation sized, reversible (yup, that's right reversible) game board.  The other side is currently drying so I'll post the other side when it's ready.  Enjoy.

First mock-up:

Filled with putty, bulked out a bit more with detail pieces added:

Textured, undercoated and ready for drybrushing:

Too bad about the focus on the last shot...

The board looks very nice.  :-*
Even though the photos aren't so great I can make out some nice details and textures.
I can't wait to see it finished.

Hard to say actually.  I'd guess a little bit more than 10 lbs (3 kg).  It's mainly foam and a mdf frame so it's pretty light considering that it has 2 sides.

Great work there, looking forward to seeing the finished result :)

What's going to be on the other side btw.?

The water on the Innsmouth side is almost set so I should be able to post finished pictures of both completed sides sometime in the next couple of days.  These WIP shots were taken with my phone's camera (out of convenience - hence their poor quality).  I will take the final shots with my proper camera and correct lighting from a few different angles so that you can get the full scope of it.

Fantastic work! I love the concept.

Can I ask, what thickness of foam did you use?

Cheers

So cool, I love all the details.  The realism on the desert board is intense.  It reminds me of the Treasure of the Sierra Madre.  The Stone work on the Insmouth table is really awesome.
