Aragorn (Merry added 22/02/12)
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:06:48 PM »
Painted today, nice to get out of the funk. Looking at the photo the sword needs highlighting as the wash has killed the metal and his shirt/tunic needs the hightlights toned down with a wash or glaze as they don't look right. Need to tidy up the base edge too.  Not my best but if i can get rest of the Fellowship to this standard i think they'll look ok as a group. As a side note this is the first mini i've painted from a grey undercoat.

That looks more like the Aragorn I imagined from the books. 8)

I used to love these old Citadel Middle-Earth miniatures. Nicely painted but somehow the old style doesn't work for me anymore. Aragorn's pose looks just to unnatural to me these days. I still have that old miniature but all in all I do like the new ones better.

Not trying to sound too negative - Aragorn with red pants? That must be his autumn camoflage...  8)

Apart from that nicely painted, great bases and even though I like the new miniatures better I still have nice memories of these miniatures.

It's not as red as that in real life, and it was intended to be an autumnal colour scheme (leaves and soil/forest scatter on the bases) so i guess it worked out o.k  ;)

I agree. Both he & Gimli(sp) look more like the images that run through my mind than their movie personae. WELL DONE!

Like the painting on the Aragorn figure.
I think the sword looks too large.
Am really taken with the Gimli figure.
Excellent figure, well painted.
He is what I pictured him to look like when I first read the books.

I agree that the Gimli model is really cool. I think the Aragorn model is the weekest model of the ones Citadel produced in the 80s. Of course I still have him lying around somewhere - it's a Lord of the Rings miniature, after all.

Nice ones! I'm doing this set for the LPL this year, always fun to see painted examples of the stuff in the queue.

Nice paintjobs!

Can't help but feeling like there should be a Saruman figure with a magnet standing next to them both!

Next one in the Fellowship done. Buttons on shirt will be redone as they don't look right in the picture and the edge of the base will be rubbed down smooth and repainted (my stupid fat thumb in the wet primer caused the bumps  ::))

Great miniatures and paintjobs. Do you only plan to paint the Starter Set are are you going to show us the whole range in all its beauty?
