Just Varnished figures. Probably 9+ hours painting them. Really happy with them. Have a game next week.

All White and Frosty.

Its nice outside. The can has done 30ish figures perfectly.

Try hitting it with a gloss varnish and then with a new can of matte.

Is there any real chance of fixing these? I was really happy with how they turned out. I did a little googleing - its only some robots arms (very slab sided) and a Gatling gun's barrel.... What actually works for de-fogging? Some guy suggested plastic glue or olive oil...

You could try Brush-on Dullcote. I find a coat of that stuff often gets me out of spray-varnishing woes, of both the frosty and shiny variety.

That is the most positive that anyone has been so far. I'll have to make a supply run to the local modeling hole tomorrow to get some supplys then I'll probably give it a go.

Has anyone any experience with methods of slightly melting the surface of the varnish with brush on Polly Cement to release the moisture and air within? or using the various decal 'shine softener' products? People on the Internets appear to use them and get good results. They arnt something that I own or have ever used though.

ok - I'm still new to this.

If I rub my thumb against the effected area lightly the frosting goes away completely - then over the space of about 30 seconds it slowly creeps back. What the hell! Is the Dark God of Varnish mocking me?

If I apply a second coat of varnish that would probably apply a constant and permanent pressure upon the trapped air and make it 'disappear'...right?

I'm not sure of the chemistry / physics behind it, but both times it has happened to me the only thing that helped was another coat of gloss varnish. Unfortunately that only really worked one of the times. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

Ive painted over all of the frosty areas with GW Gloss Varnish. SUCCESS. Its dried now and I think that about 80% of the white stuff is now gone. They are real shiny now but I'm going to paint over them with a few coats of Matt Varnish (the brush on type) to bring that down. They arnt 'display pieces' in any way now but they are good for use on the table.

I need to get my mitts on some Matt Varnish (my local modeling den only sells GW paints) and Im not planning on making an order that I can tag it on to any time soon - so it might be a little while before you can see the defrosted figs on the forum - but be sure they'll be there soon enough.
