Favorite D&D Character Painted
« on: 06 March 2012, 09:35:30 PM »
I realized I hadn't actually sat down and painted anything in quite some time (years), and decided to give it a go last weekend. Along with many of my old Partha Paints being rotten now, I discovered that what little skill I had in painting these things seems to have atrophied :( Only finished one figure, and he was half done when I started. Hopefully the next ones I'm working on will take less time and look a bit better.

This is my version of my favorite D&D character, played him for years:

As you haven't painted for years don't be so hard on yourself.
It's extremely neat, two things to remember for the next one, dark lining and mold line removal.

The fact it's neat and you have also done some pretty nice tartan is pretty impressive.

Sometimes it's actually quite nice to see how someone who is 'rusty' paints something - it gives a good look at the detail of a figure when it's painted, but not gussied up with all kinds of lighting effects and shading. Simplicity can be a good thing.
I like him a lot, you really made the figure jump out at me! (and then he proceeded to shout battle cries as I lost some blood...)

please do tell us a little about him!

Played him for years.  He ended up (due to a slightly sadistic DM) being more or less half-dragon thanks to some potions he was force fed as an experiment.  That's why he wears the glove on his left hand, it's actually more of a claw than a hand.  I chose to do the glove both because he did actually wear it in the game, and because I wasn't sure I could pull off successfully sculpting a good claw-hand when I made this mini.
