I've have little or no idea what we're going for, but what the heck. I'll just paint them and bring them along.

What book do you mean ? There are millions of books about the Legion. For a novel I only read Beau Geste. Which is written very old fashioned and romantic. But entertaining. Watch the movie with Gary Cooper from the 30`s
