Crested Legionaries in Italic H helmets.
« on: 08 August 2012, 01:59:13 PM »
Several of our customers expressed a desire for crested legionaries and we had gone soo far as to supply one with separate crested helmets for conversion. We have now decided that his poor fingers have suffered enough and added two packs of them to our range.

I added a mix of arms which we have available but will supply the packs with whatever you may want.

Cheers

Very nice, but...

Aren't they just praetorians?

IMHO they could be as the Praetorians could be just fancy Legionaries. We were asked for these and so we did them, they differ from our Praetorians in that they lack the arm protection(unless you want it), they have either one greave or none and they don't have pteruges.

Just another option to mull over.

Yes, they are a nice addition. However, I do wonder, if it wasn't just as viable to make the heads interchangeable in general, i.e. to offer bodies and heads separately (as already done with some models). Perhaps that could as well free up ressources for another set of helmet designs (as much as I like the Niedermörmter and Imperial Gallic types…). ;)
But then again, I'm not that versed with economics. ::)

It is easier for me when casting if the model is in one piece, The large neckguard makes this head a bitch to fit so we felt it better in this case to attach it. Adam will do more helmets(aux. infantry and Cavalry) and other armour types so there will be even more options to mix and match.

Very nice work, Keith.

I disagree in selling bodies and heads separately. Yes, I know, maybe it could be fine for those who love conversion, but I'm a bit clumsy (I'm not so skilled), and I love one-pieced miniatures. I find so akward to attach heads to bodies (they never look fine).  :)

I'd rather prefer mixing miniatures, as Aventines's.

By the way, are you thinking in modelling Auxilia?  ;)

We will do a complete range with nearly everyones wish list answered. Aux. infantry and cavalry, artillery, baggage train, legionaries in mail and in scale. There will be little left undone when we finally finish.

As to when the first of the Aux.infantry will appear I am not sure, I had thought they would arrive soon after the last of the legionaries in Lorica but Adam tells me that he wants to complete the legionaries in mail and scale before moving onto the Aux. That said the bodies in mail will be the starting point for the legionaries and aux.

@Keith
Very good news.
Is there a little chance for a little pack of legionaries with mannuballista?
No company produce such a variant for 28 mm imperial romans.

In my opinion a very nice addition.

Thank you, Keith!

My only Auxilia comes from Warlord Games, but I have to admit that my favorite Romans are from A&A and Aventine. I'm looking forward to hear from Auxilia, as I  am sure they will have as good quality as other Aventine's Romans.

Thank you again! Great news!

Adam has been collecting bits for these for a while now, I think he may do them. But when?
