Romans
« on: 17 March 2012, 09:00:33 AM »

10 Warlord Romans.

I tried the 'dipping' technique with Liberon Bistrot lacquer and did some more work afterwards. I'm reasonably pleased with the result... Normally I do not do or like dipping but it's certainly the only way I'm getting anywhere near Hail Caesar.  lol

I think the step that took the longest time was putting the decals on the shields.

Very nice. I've nefer done "the dip" method for shading but these look great & might nudge me to try it.

These are looking good! Putting decals is sometimes very time-consuming indeed. Last time, making shields for my current LPL team, I've thought painting them maybe wouldn't take that much time :)

Very promising start, looking forward to more.

A very good start on an army.  By keeping things simple, so they don't take too long to paint, you're likely to see fairly rapid progress, which is good for morale, and means that you're more likely to keep going and 'finish' the army.

That's the truth, the rare times I've used them I thought... why? The troubles outweigh results, at least for me.

Bottom line is you have some nice looking figures there :)

The Warlord figures look great.
As one who has faced Romans across the table many times,
it's the shields I notice first.
Extra time on the shields, with decals or finely painted to me is worth it.
That said, I love the shields on your figures.

That's very good! How long does it take to paint 10 miniatures with dipping and shield transferts to you?

I timed it to 600 seconds a mini with highlights, transfers and basing. So a good 6ks for 10 miniatures.

Of course the more you make the more effective you become in each step.
