Have to say, Newline Designs may not be fashionable, and they are a tad wooden, but with a bit of titivation they're actually very nice figures - and as you can see from the good doctor, a pretty good fit size-wise with Mr Hicks' output...

I'm planning to make sure I have a full Ship's company, including such luminaries as cook, sailing master, ship's carpenter, and so on. The full cast of Master and Commander in fact

To summarise, the blue is Vallejo Dark Blue (not dark at all, but a very bright Royal blue). Skin is a mix of Vallejo Red Leather and Dark Flesh. In both cases, (the blue and the flesh) I've gradually mixed in increasing amounts of white for the highlight coats...
