Viking Beserker- Snow Swept Basing
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:41:09 PM »
Hi all,

As mentioned in a recent post I've been looking for a way in which to replicate a snow swept lanscape for my Norwegian (Norse) army. I think I may have cracked it, possibly with a darker base colour next time(?), but I'd be very interested in what you guys think about my efforts?

Here's a few pics, there are more on my Just Add Water Blog so please feel free to check them out:

http://justaddwater-bedford.blogspot.co.uk/

Here's a couple of images to hopefully to whet the appetite:

The last pic is sort of a comparison shot of my last basing effort prior to the new pics:

Lovely vignette, but not enough snow for me. :?

Yeah, I realised as I was posting the pics. Still, they were nicely encased in a good layer of gloss before applying the matt so hopefully I'll be able to clean the chap up a little (praying hands smiley is needed here  lol).[/quote]

Good point. i already have some on the larger 'unit' bases but this was a bit of a test piece. I may add one building up between the shrubbery  :D.

Excellent painting, but I would describe it as a heavy frost rather than a dusting of snow?

Regards,

Regards,

I'm going to go for it and darken the base with the same addition of off white for the snow for a greater contrast. I'll post up the results later today or early tomorrow.

Regards,

I'd agree with that - still, it made me shiver a bit! Those bare chested Norse are tougher than me!

I'm going to re-do the basing with a darker ground and pop up the results on this forum later today.

Thanks to all for their constructive criticism- very much appreciated  :).
