new Pulp SF game annouced: War Rocket

Hydra minis: http://www.hydraminiatures.com/index.shtml

Quote:
"Our 32mm pulp sci-fi figures have proven wildly popular and we are currently working on more pulp sci-fi goodies. In addition, we are extremely excited to announce our upcoming product War Rocket-- the game of pulp sci-fi space combat. The rules are being designed by master painter Dave Pauwels and will focus on the smaller spaceship missions that are the mainstay of pulp sci-fi comics such as Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, or Dan Dare. War Rocket is designed to be a fun and fast, mission-centered game in which each player controls no more than a dozen sparking, buzzing rocketships.

The miniatures are being created by veteran 3D designer Phil Beauchamp and the masters were output using a 3D printer. Metal castings are made from these resin masters and the detail on these models is incredible. The scale of the rockets is approximately 1:285 (6mm) and most spaceships will be 1 to 3 inches long. However, we'll be designing larger battleships that will be 4-5 inches long.

Currently there are four factions in development: Galacteers (Galactic Space Patrol), Imperial Forces of Marduk the Tyrant, Zenithian saucer-men, and Space Pirates/Marauders. The two ships in the illustration above are from the Galacteer faction.

Stay tuned for more War Rocket information!!!"

Let us hope that the rules are fun and the actual models turn out as good as the 3d Masters!!!
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

they look absolutely fabulous.

Never thought of this, one of those "well its so obvious now you mention it" moments.

Looks like another compulsory purchase on the list.

Love the minis! Now, I wonder how difficult it would be to scratchbuild one in 28mm! And a large scale one (54mm) would mean I'd died and gone to Pulp Heaven! What a display model that would make!

I played a lot of Silent Death back in college and always wanted to give BFG a go, but I like the pulp theme much better than the grim, gothic stuff.

Really looking forward to this!

Those look really nice, I want a couple too - perhaps I'll wait until these come out before I order the robots too :)

Looking over the company's website it looks like they've been open since Oct and have a whole 5 minis for sale.  Granted the models look great, but perhaps I should temper my excitement until the company 'proves' itself a bit.

It's hard though.  I *really* want this to happen and be great.  Already looking forward to making a space board.

I don't think you have to worry about it happening. Matt's been very enthusiastic and he may only be open for a few months, but those are the guys you have to really support so they make it beyond the first year.

I know I am!

There was also that game by Wizkids that was like Pirates of the Spanish Main called Rocketmen that looked interesting but never took hold.

These ships look neat and maybe the Hydra ones will let me get my fix in pewter what my sanity won't let me buy in cards.

I hope this one makes it - the minis look great.
The game doesn't have to be fleet battles like BFG.
I remember playing a space raceing game called Viper ages ago.

Which was - by far - their worst game. Aside from sportsclix I've played pretty much each game they've made, and although I was really hyped about this one it was one of the more tedious games I've ever come across..

War Rocket, on the other hand.. Well, if the game is even half as nice as those preview pics, I'll just have to buy it :)
