Things - Sci-fi Carpenter project - Outpost 31
« on: April 07, 2012, 09:29:15 PM »
A little teaser for a sci-fi game I'm working on, based on The Thing. More will follow  ;)

I saw these a while ago on the SotTR forums. Really top notch stuff.

They are are really well done and very thematic.  :-*

These are great! I saw them earlier and just wish I could get anywhere close with my the Thing minis.

Really well done.  I'm torn between the desire to admire the craftsmanship and the urge to look away!

A very good bit of bits box plundering and the ability to tie everything together. The best bit of this project is that you've managed to get the colours of 'bloody meat' just right.

I am not a particular fan of the subject matter but I certainly can't fault the execution of of it.

Excellent work...now get the opposition sorted :).

what are the component bits...

Many GW bits from the new and the old spawn figures, wires and a lot of green stuff to "bodymelt" the parts together. It's easy and it's a lot of fun  :)

I saw these a while ago on the SotTR forums.

Indeed, the models were used in a SotR scenario, but were originally converted for a game inspired on the movie. You will find out more on my blog. For the moment, here are some conceptual sketches for the different creatures : http://thenutoncave.blogspot.com/search/label/Things

More to come. Hope you enjoy.

There he is! Told you these were inspired. Nice to see you here too mate.

The Commander

Excellent work...now get the opposition sorted :).

Go for manic Miner's snow troopers, (sculpted by whiff waff, nice sci-fi heavy weather troopers, add to them to some fenris investigators and you've got a nice civilian group to infect too.

;)

Very inspiring sketches, and your minis have been an inspiration as well. What rules will you be using? I will be keeping an eye out for updates.    :-*

Re: concept pics, nice idea for the human/hybrid/thing. Very similar in respects to the flood infected USNC from Halo, I was was looking to use IG plastics + mantic zeds + nid plastics for those, might be something you could use to, everything from the bits boxes to make them extra gribbly of course! ;)

As I said before... NICE! ;)
