There are several versions of "Around the World in 80 Days". Also "Shanghai Knights" & "Shanghai Noon". Ad to these there are a number of movies about the British in India, "Gunga Din", "Jungle Boy", even an old Shirly Temple movie that I can't remember the name of.

Most of the Hammer horror films made between 1960 and 1970.

The Great Train Robbery (Love this movie!)

Not to be pedantic, but it's 'The First Great Train Robbery'. Yep, a complete classic. Wayne Sleep (yes, him, the dancer) scuttling about on roofs, doing his own stunts, Sean Connery being Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland playing a lunatic Irish safecracker.

How about 'Dracula'? I mean the Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins one. Even some iffy acting and accents can't ruin what is by far the closest adaptation I've seen to Bram Stoker's book.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Sorry, was marketed here as 'The Great Train Robbery' on THIS side of the briny, though I found this image:

MUCH to forgive in order to watch, it does run closer than many. AND, I thought Oldman was brilliant.

Ah, that explains things. On this side of the pond 'The Great Train Robbery' usually refers to an actual robbery that happened in 1963.

Gary Oldman is usually brilliant, I can't remember a bad performance from him. Keanu Reeves was ... an odd choice shall we say? "Yo, Professor Dude, there's like, this nosferatu totally on the loose. Whoa."

Anthony Hopkins was class as well, but I hope he got extra for having to kiss Wynona Ryder. I also hope he checked his wallet afterwards.

It's a pity the recent Dracula series was so pants.

That does remind me though, has anyone mentioned 'Ripper Street' yet?

'Gangs of New York' and 'Far and Away' are also worthwhile viewing, albeit a view of things across the pond.

Evile German-types, zeppelins, mad child catchers, Armoured lancers ....

Ticks a lot of boxes  :)

I would give up my wallet to kiss Winona.

If you're extending to Edwardian for comic opera Eastern Europeans, I suppose The Great Race and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines should get a nod. For arguments sake, mind you.

I really need some explanation of how Ripper is bad; some give it much hate. I will enjoy, even knowing its shortcomings. Just wish I knew them fully.

As this is 'era', I toyed with the idea of opening the flood gates of American 'westerns', but restrained myself. However, if you mention Ripper Street, you must also do so with Copper.

I would give up my wallet to kiss Winona.

Well, at the time the movie was made...

Okay, now too. I have SUCH low standards.

Wild Wild West.
Movie great for it's vehicles, but painful to watch.
I prefer the TV show more than movie. Lots of gadgets.

Not VSF & set a little later, but great fort ideas and battle scenes,  Beau Geste, Legionnaire, March or Die.

(E)ven an old Shirly Temple movie that I can't remember the name of.

Wee Willie Winkie, 1937.

Re: The Prisoner Of Zenda, it's hard to beat the Ronald Colman/Douglas Fairbanks, Jr/C. Aubrey Smith version, *also* from 1937.
