scenery cars
« on: 09 May 2012, 04:26:14 PM »
Hi everyone,

I used some old toy cars to make scenery for Force on Force. This is the firs one. I’m not satisfied with the windows look. Have you got any idea how to make them look better?

Thanks

Definitely a streak or two of white, and as in the other example, perhaps a lighter shade near the edges.  Maybe a glossier varnish.  The weathering on the car looks great though, as does the base.

Gloss varnish (windows only) did the trick for me: it makes a world of difference.

Windows look fine mate, as they aren't gaming pieces but nicely painted scenery I think I could live with that to be honest, don't want to upstage your figures! ;)

When I paint cars, I try to imitate the reflection of the light on the windows with lighter paints. See my Audi Quattro here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=42031.msg490435#msg490435

Add a gloss varnish does the trick - creates natural reflection as opposed the whole white shading nonsense...

My question has to do with the bases: I know that dropping flock onto bases is practically instinctual for most gamers, but aren't urban/street/rubbled pavements more often under our cars? (Except for those parts of the world where having a junker in your front yard is a status symbol - I live near a couple such places...)

Well, that's right. But I think of it as scenery for my modern war project in middle east villages, or places "where having a junker in your front yard is a status symbol"... And now is when I ask you for some photos of your neighbourhood  ;) ;)
