Cavalry Cassock Colors

I have some cavalry in cassocks and am not sure what color to paint them, they will just be mixed into a regiment that has blue coats, wasn't a cassock just a kind of overcoat? would they be a uniform color in a regiment?

I'm assuming your are on about ECW cassocks 

They were basically overcoats so you could get away with painting them any colour (not too bright) but having some in regimental colours would help to tie them in.
