1st Corps Minerva Belgian Armored Car -- Review
« on: June 08, 2012, 05:16:56 PM »
As soon as 1st Corps (http://www.1stcorps.co.uk) posted that this model was available again, I jumped on it to add it to my WWI/RCW AC collection (18 different type vehicles now).

Listed as 28mm, the vehicle scales out to approx 1/51. So bigger than my other 1/56 armored cars, but it certainly fits in just fine.

The kit comes with a green resin body, 4 wire wheels, a mounted machine gun, 2 armor plates (I'm not quite sure where they fit) and two seat backs.

The resin body is a very clean mold with no flash except for a bit understandably in the view slits. Nice detail outside (headlights; boxes; spare tire) and inside (seats; bags; floor boards). Criticism would be the two longer sides of the crew compartment bend in a bit and the rivets are very big.

The body looks a bit bulky to me (again, understandable in order to get a sturdy cast), so I may thin down the fenders and the lip around the crew compartment.

Parts are very clean casts, too. Excellent job with the wire wheels.

A 3-man Belgian crew is also available. Sculpts are hefty, decent detail, scaling nicely with Great War Miniatures.

Overall -- a great model. Nice job by 1st Corps.

I've got the original version. There is a plate to cover the slit in front of the driver , the other goes with the MG.

Are the back wheels single now ? They should be double

Yes, 4 wheels, so single wheels in the back.

That's for the info. I'll contact 1st Corps about more wheels.

Nice review, thank you. I'm undertaking a small project on the early Belgians for 1914 so I'm going to need to convert some crew for this time.

Cheers,

Helen
Best wishes,

I'm in the same boat as you. Looks like a nice vehicle though, so probably worth the effort.

this is a cool looking armored car I think I will pick up one , do you know if it will fit in with Brigade Games figures?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.
