I have nothing against Mr. Whitehouse insofar as I know of him but this, my AFAIK first experience with his rules, left me rather cold. It's true that these are the beta rules and much has been left out so my opinion might change when a more extensive view can be gained on the system.
With that caveat, I got the feel that tho it's supposed to be the year 2200+ plus, the rules are more @ the Vietnam War. And not even the hypothetical (and hopefully to remain so) Vietnam War of 2055, never mind 2155 or 2255. The rules admittedly seem somewhat scaleable which is a plus, but the wounding rules will drag it down in larger games so it's a bit theoretical as a bonus.
The only idea I found unsually refreshing was the "what the ?!?" bit but since only a taster for that's been shown so far I'm sure how much effect it will actually have on the game apart from the direct consequences to the activation etc. and the complications following from things like throwing in "wandering monsters".
