RAVE FROM THE GRAVE!
Thread Necromancy, I know...but I painted a new Warzone model! This time it's the Razide, everybody loves the Razide and me too. Excellent sculpt and a joy to paint. I went crazy with colors on this one, taking the contrast one step beyond the Gomorrian Emasculator. I like it...freaky and a bit extreme, but I think it fits the Dark Legion. Can't wait to get my hands on the new models!

It's awesome and looks like it just jumped straight from the page. A bit of "baboon buttocks syndrome", but the colour combination works like a charm.

RAVE FROM THE GRAVE!
Thread Necromancy, I know...but

Really glad of the return as I missed these first time around.
Not familiar with the range, but, WOW!
Stunning brushwork on some very characterful lumps of metal!
 :-* :-* :-*

Might have to check some of these out.

And another Thread Necromancy!

Yes, I have finally finished some more oldskool Warzone models. This time it's the old Nasca Razides from the Dark Legion. Once again old metal miniatures (1997 I think?) and a blast to paint. And of course painted in the oldskool colours. Now to test them ASAP!

Hey, those are very cool. I might need to visit Prince August to see if they still have some.

Awesome stuff. I never saw the Gwar comparison you mentioned, but now I canư unsee it.

I really like thses old skool models, The warzone range had a lovely campiness to them that just makes them so much better then the current range of Warzone ressurection....

I've allways been tempted by the Razides and I love the red on yours.

Your stuff is excellent!

I never got into Warzone, nor even Mutant Chronicles at all, until recently (like two weeks ago recently) buying some Prodos (a.k.a., Archon) Resurrection starters.

Digging around Google image searches, I was astounded by how drably painted the Resurrection line is, at least with regard to the "studio models," compared to the original line.

I much much much prefer the glorious psychedelicism, which you have really brought to life here.

Thanks guys!
I understand why Prodos went with the drab and realistic colouring, but for me the garish and psychedelic look fits so well and make me much happier. Honestly, the new sculpts are better done but the old ones have more character IMO. And of course they are a lot about nostalgia.
The next ones will be more Necromutants to make a full squad.

Wonderful stuff, Malebogia.
Especially those blended limbs, most excellent.

Really glad you resurrected this thread as I would have missed it otherwise.
Nothing like a blast from the past, eh?

Thanks lads!!
And now for something a bit less garish: Cable Marionettes!

These are just loads of electric (computer) cables which were animated by the Dark Symmetry. Love the idea and the miniatures are terrific too. Excellent resin casts. You buy these in sets of 3 and it was interesting to see the two sets are slightly different. Numbers 1+5, 2+4 and 3+6 are the same design but vary slightly. The biggest difference is the size between 1 and 5. The latter is tiny! But since they are just walking mounds of cables, I think that's perfectly fine. I did repose them a bit with boiling water to get a bit more variation in their arms.
Real fun models to paint, they went really fast. Mostly a matter of washing the metallics (Tin Bitz, Chainmail, Mithril Silver) and adding a wash of Tamiya Smoke. I then picked out individual cables with bright colours to make them pop more and then painted the bases.
Since these are more 'Support' choices in my Dark Legion list, I really need to paint Undead Legionaries and Necromutants.

Reminds me of the Chain Thug from Dreamblade, which was essentially the same thing but made out of chains instead of cable.  The D&D Miniatures prepaint range also had a super-sized version - a Chain Golem IIRC.
