Decent Indiana Jones type figure
« on: July 22, 2012, 08:47:55 PM »
Isn't it about time someone did one of these? I know that there are some suitable figures about. Couldn't we have one that was in a couple of different poses with at least one on horseback? I know here was a set done for flames of war featuring te canyon scene.
I go to pieces so fast that people get hit by the shrapnel.

Agreed!

I have the Darkson Design's one.  It's actually pretty decent.

Here are some.  Whether or not they are "decent" is not for me to say.

Artizan:

Copplestone (American Adventurers)

And if you're lucky, Citadel (for Talisman Timescape):

Edit: And here's the Darkson Designs one that Supervike mentioned:

According to the TMP thread from which I pinched the picture (http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=150193), this was only available at conventions.

There is a decent plastic one which came with a game I think, I got mine from the very kind Orctrader and also a Partizan giveaway (may have been Hammerhead) which aint too bad either.

That bottom figure looks ideal for Herr Flick from 'Allo Allo.  ;)

There's also Monterrey Jack from FFG's Arkham Horror line of pre-painted plastic miniatures, an obvious expy of Dr. Jones.

I've got the Artizan one. Lacks a whip, but that's not impossible to solve.

Don't think the other one's quite got it.

Thanks for the input guys, especially Steve F. None of those float my boat i don't think  the poses are quite dynamic enough, here are some screen capture pics of what I think a decent Indiana Jones figure should look like, apologies for the quality of some of these but you get the idea.

With the release of the new Copplestone K64 Mark IX Beast, perhaps someone will be tempted to produce one or two?

Memory failure on my part: I'm pretty sure that someone made the Ark of the Covenant with two alternative sets of bearers, one of which was a group of German soldiers.  Can't remember who, though, and my internet connection is up the Swanee again, so I can't go browsing.  Eureka, maybe, or Brigade?

The problem is, manufacturers are reduced to doing "not-Indy" figs to avoid the pitfalls of IP cases, which is why none of the figures are exactly right. He's such an iconic character now that a direct copy from a movie still would mean having a licence for the image, which would probably not be cost effective for the manufacturer - look at Knight Models dropping their Star Wars line because it was just too expensive to continue.

That said, I have the Artizan figure, and it really didn't take much effort to make him into something I was much happier with (please excuse the crappy old pics):
