Revenue officers - 18th century

I expect Captain Blood or Malamute would know in a trice (wasn't Malamute working on Dr Syn?), but has  anyone got a decent illustration of customs/revenue officers mid 18th century?
Or even a link to dress regulations etc.?

Sorry Gary, I'm afraid not - although I wish I had.
I have long wanted to do this as a project, and keep looking at the excellent Trident Designs 40mm range... One day 

Lowtardog was also after doing this at one point - can't remember if he progressed it or not, but he might have some of the relevant uniform info...

Unless of course they wore plain clothes, which is probably quite likely...

Dragoons. That what's needed for dealing with smugglers... Or maybe Yeomanry...

My planned collection went off into the evil bay mist however Revenue chaps were indeed usually in civilian garb however they could be supported by the local milita/fencibles etc or even regular army but there is nowt to stop you giving them perhaps a cockade in their hat or armband etc think Bow Street runners in that respect.

Yes I was, I bought all the necessary figures and of course they remain unpainted

I was thinking of resurrecting the project only last week whilst sitting in my cottage in rainy Devon.

Sorry to say I have no idea on uniforms for customs men, I assumed it would be civilian dress at that time with only the army/navy having uniformed men.

I have got my eye on some of the Galloping Majors new militia as suitable figures. I also have some dragoons too.

Thank you - seen his picture already, plus a dismounted one, but I was wondering if there might be anything contemporary (Hoggarth etc) or an Angus McBride (perhaps in his Look and Learn days)

The above figure, painted by Steve Dean - NOT me - is a Musketeer Miniatures GNW Swedish Officer.  When I first saw this on Steve's site I thought "Revenue Man."  And this thread reminded me of it.

That's what I recall from Dr Syn in its various cinematic outings, so that's good enough for me!
