A Horde of living Shadows (and some worms)
« on: August 01, 2012, 02:12:04 PM »
Additions to my Unspeakable Horrors forces. http://www.matakishi.com/unspeakablehorrors.htm
These are acrylic zombie silhouettes from Mechanicalwarhorse.com which I thought would make great living shadows because of their 2D look. They are led/controlled by a Nightwalker D&D figures that I was given. No painting involved, just some basing.

Also, some plastic Purple worms from Reaper at under £3.00 each. I would normally have painted them as fleshy, grey things but decided to go with the named purple just because. Being so cheap and quick to paint I might order another three and make them more 'icky'.

Those are incredibly cool!  Love this horde.  Great idea using them as shadows.

You might want to take a look at some of the old Dreamblade prepaints from Wizards of the Coast if you like the 2D shadow effect.  There were at least two different "silhouette" pieces in the game in that style, for ex:

The game's OOP, but figures from it can still be found on the secondary market, sometimes at reasonable prices.

The very simplicity makes them all the more scary!
