The Baron is down!
« on: 23 February 2008, 04:19:21 PM »
Hello think tank

I watched BlueMax today and it got me thinking..

I wanted to make a downed plane(Red Baron), make a small band of men
(pulp figs) to go and get the baron out, some brits to stop all this from going on.
I wanted it to be a small skirmish game with a pulp feel... now... rules..i'm thinking 45 adventures but if anyone has a better idea for rules for this sort of game lets hear it.. please..
Its not my fault! it just went off!!

For a small game, in figures, you can't go wrong with .45. Each individual figure can be customised to your hearts content. 8)

1/48
Oh sure. Everybody's in favor of saving Hitler's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, ooh, suddenly you've gone too far

I think any scale from 1/48 to 1/64 is fine. Seems to be a much better choice in 1/48 though.

SMER make a Dr.I in 1/48th, if you can find one. I believe the Baron flew an Eindecker too. If you see a 1/48th one of those on your travels let me know, will you? I wouldn't mind one myself.

Without wanting to sound like a broken record, I'm a big fan of SMER. Don't seem to be too many about right now, but you can usually get the planes for £3.99, and their simple and robust design make them ideal for wargamers, though that probably makes proper modellers hate them.

Hm, how about Triumph and Tragedy? A nice game for that size of game. Though 45 adventures leave you more room to individualize your characters.
