Suggestions for Baron's War Buildings please
« on: February 06, 2021, 02:02:22 PM »
A very good afternoon to you one and all. I'm looking to start a new project that I'm going to keep small this time, Honest :D Other than the obvious movies of Robin Hood, Ivanhoe etc I was hoping for a few pointers on buildings for the time with a nod to Hollywood of course. I must confess to knowing very little of early mediaeval and as I've pre-ordered Baron's Wars from Footsore I'm hoping that should give me some background and I've learnt over the years if I get the scenery and buildings done first the figures are more likely to follow in small amounts. I'd like to start with a small hamlet or village then build up to maybe a very small town with a castle. Any suggestions for type and manufacturer/supplier would be most appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
JB

You can wait for the next KS from Footsore Miniatures. They have very nice buildings in the pipeline.

Do you know if they're still aiming for 3D prints or will they also have a resin option?

4Ground MDF kits get decent looking buildings on the table quickly.

Bit of extra care and they can look quite pretty.
Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever

For plastic kits there is Renedra's Medieval cottage (link):

Warlord Games has the old Tabletop Workshop range but several of the buildings, including the cottage are sold out. They do have three in stock though: the barn, the stable and the chapel (link):

Resin, they say in their Facebook page, and the models look as resin ones.

By the way, those models from Oshiro Models are  :-* :-* :-*!!!

Yeah, they are beautiful. My favourite aspect is the daub; the texture and colour are perfect.

Are there any pictures of these available yet?

I can second that. The buildings James produces are top notch. Bags of character which is what you want with terrain/buildings IMHO  8)

Sorry for the delay in replying to you all but I've had problems accessing the forum. Many thanks for some excellent suggestions. Obviously cost is s consideration but it's back to the old equation of cost against time, or at least the lack of it. The renedra cottage looks the part as do the tabletop workshop(I found a dealer on evil bay with multi buy deals) but it's back to time to get them coloured in. 4ground stuff is a nice option but maybe a bit limited for the inevitable growth of the hamlet into a town. Then of course those wonderful Oshiro models :-* :-* :-* Would it be possible to PM you James? No promises but I'd like to find out a bit more from you and maybe just a couple of centre pieces.
Once again many thanks for your help

Cheers
Johnny Boy
