Great News – The Stockton show lads are back
« on: August 20, 2012, 11:19:47 PM »
Tom and Dave who ran the Stockton show for years are organising a new show. A Call to Muster 2013 will be held in March next year at the Smoggycon venue in Middlesbrough. They are recruiting traders, wargamers, modellers and re-enactors right now. See their new website – www.teesshows.co.uk – for more details. :)

Tom and Dave were at the Border Reiver show on Saturday recruiting traders and wargamers for their show next March – and I am told that spaces are going fast. I also understand that they have been delighted by how well their new venture has been received by traders and wargamers alike. To cap their day off they found that the article they had written about wargames shows had been published in issue 7 of Wargames Recon magazine. :D

Since the Border Reiver show Tom and Dave have been very busy updating their website – www.teesshows.co.uk. The website now shows which traders have booked to attend the show and which traders have expressed an interest in attending the show and have not yet formally booked. The website also shows the wargames clubs, and the games they are staging, who have booked to attend the show – and I am told that they intend to regularly update the website as new bookings are received.  :)

This is such a strange thread.

It is a bit. Nevertheless I'm happy to have another show to attend. Smoggycon isn't too long away now either.

Tom and Dave are putting the final touches to their show – A Call To Muster 2013 at Middlesbrough – which is only 1 week away. The last few weeks have been quite hectic for them following a suggestion from a friend that they introduce a free goodie bag – a first at their shows. Now with the generous help of Victrix, Mantic Games and Warlord Games the first 150 people through the door will receive a goodie bag containing 28mm figures from one of these three companies. In addition there have been some changes to the exhibitors and Warlord Games have taken the last trader spot. Tom and Dave expect there will be 27 traders, 17 wargames, 4 re=enactment displays and 5 military model displays at the show – for more details see their website – www.teesshows.co.uk

Parking was the usual nightmare at the Southlands and the one room felt quite cramped in places. A few traders didnt show cos of the weather which was a shame and I couldnt find the tombola to have a go.
Nice to catch up with Manic at 4A, and picked up lots of old goodies from Aintsy, though I think the sealed Cyberpunk box I opened is suffering through the effects of lead rot. Was very impressed with the Very British Civil War board and the huge model of the Starship Enterprise.

Hopefully the weather will be more forgiving next year.

Only had half an hour to run round but it looked decent. Picked up some stuff from Ainsty too. The guys at the VBCW table were really friendly too. Where did they get that marvelous bus from?

As one of the show organizers it is nice to see independent views of our efforts - we welcome all comments good or bad. Ironically but for the weather and some other factors it would have been one of our biggest shows ever. The jury is out about a show next year - there are a number of things we need to consider including how to attract the bigger traders, how can the lighting be improved and how can the advertising be better - suggestions welcomed.
