Since this is actual playtesting for the soon to be released game I'm only going to provide the AAR w/o the game's name. I would like to point out that the miniatures shown are Old Glory 10s and they are AWESOME!!!
In the cold northern lands of Russia Napoleon fought and lost to these sturdy people. But what if Austria had thrown in against Russia?
By June of 1812 Napoleon's forces had reached Vilnius, prior to reaching the Russian forces Austria swept in and attacked, allying theirselves with France.
The initial Russian thrust pushed their cannons forward and began the infantry march towards their enemies, the Austrians.
This was answered by the Austrian's advancing their infantry and cavalry. Perhaps the Russian's should have done the same.
As the forces clashed the Russian Opelchenie marched, three rank deep, towards the more seasoned 2nd Class line and were quickly defeated. The Russian forces held up in the town but were assaulted by the Austrian Cavalry, which decimated the Austrian Heavy Cavalry. The Russian's cheered! But victory was soon turned into defeat as the Austrians assaulted the town and defeated the Opelchenie.
The Dullard General commanding the Russian forces ordered them forward where they were destroyed by the Austrian infantry. Oh the horror of it all.
Snatching Defeat out of the maw of Victory the Russians soon learned the value of keeping their cannons in reserve, bringing up their cavalry, and not rushing the enemy cannons... what was I thinking!!!
I like the system's ability to provide an easy game play and yet allow for the depth of strategy (not seen by my Russians in this combat but... I'm just saying). It also has a great mechanic for adding city battles in the midst of open field combat.
Here's the photos of the game.
Hope you enjoy,
